White Oak Veterinary Hospital Assistant Emily

Emily is originally from Fairfield, Connecticut, and graduated from UCONN in 2007 with a B.S. in Animal Science.  She grew up riding horses competitively, and has continued following her passion for horses and all animals into her adult life.  She has considered Asheville a home base since she first moved here to work for the Asheville Humane Society in 2008, however she has had the good fortune to work and travel throughout the country and abroad.  While living in Portland, ME, Emily worked as a veterinary assistant for a large and small animal veterinary practice, and also as a dog training instructor.  She has worked in the Thoroughbred racehorse industry in Lexington, Kentucky, during both breeding and training seasons.  The past several years she has spent working seasonally at horse and cattle ranches in Montana, Arizona, and Oklahoma.  After travelling in Peru, Emily returned to Asheville in 2014, where she now happily lives in West Asheville with her 11 year old mixed breed dog, Uma, who has been her faithful companion throughout every adventure.  Emily is thrilled to work at White Oak Veterinary Hospital as a veterinary assistant, and enjoys spending time outdoors, horseback riding, practicing yoga, walking with her dog, gardening, cooking, volunteering, writing, and much more.
